Why is the Theatre Running a Capital Campaign?
This project consists of upgrading the sound system, digital and environmental upgrades to allow the showing of digital movies along with the sound capabilities that are necessary. Film companies are requiring all movie theatres to go to digital if they want to continue to have films to show within the theatre. It is believed by talking to experts within the industry that this change must be completed by the end of 2013 in order to remain a theatre that can continue to show films.
This project also includes some necessary repairs to the boiler, generator and AC systems. These renovations are necessary to enhance the theatre experience for the audience, and improve the working conditions provided to the artists.
It also includes roof repairs, front entrance interior cosmetic work, façade enhancements for the façade is currently crumbling and upgrade the fire and alarm and intrusion alarms systems.
In addition it will include changing the front lobby area to include a coffee kiosk and tables to invite even more patrons to the theatre. Other Theatres have added this to their theatre to bring additional patrons to the theatre and to help supplement fundraising capabilities.

Why this project necessary to meet the organization’s mission?
This project is necessary to help keep the doors of the Carlisle Theatre open to achieve its mission. The mission is to provide a regional cultural center for the performing arts and educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of the communities we serve. This can only be done if the required digital and sound system upgrade is done, the necessary renovations and repairs are done to keep the theatre up and running mechanically and safely, and the addition of a coffee area to encourage more patrons to come into the theatre and to hold additional smaller events on a small scale level in the coffee shop area in the front lobbys. This will increase foot traffic in downtown Carlisle and will help to bring additional business into the downtown. These repairs will also allow the theatre to offer different shows and movies (because almost all movies will be going digital) and offer different activities to increase the revenue of the theatre to keep it operating.
This Capital Campaign is towards keeping the doors of the Carlisle Theatre open. It is a true gem in our community and for the future of the community. It is for the people who believe in the Greater Carlisle community and its surrounding areas who to wish to make it a better place to live, to work and to raise families.
